Confidence, discipline, focus…all the general physical, mental, and social benefits you find listed on any martial arts school website will be provided by any true martial arts program. We have four decades of proof here in Houston that KMA Taekwondo Hapkido delivers these at the highest level.
Our KMA-specific ethics and values
Different from other martial arts schools and Taekwondo programs, Grand Master Song has articulated 10 specific ethics that we not only memorize and recite but also study and discuss how we can apply them to our lives. And, yes, we even have a dedicated poomsae (form) to embody them.
Lifelong local community
We are not businesspeople who bought into a martial arts franchise. We are each lifelong martial artists who are passionate about Korean Martial Arts. Teaching them is our way of giving back to the world during our short time on this side of Heaven. Once you join KMA, you become a part of our KMA family. We are here to guide and support you in your (or your child’s) own martial arts journey — and we especially appreciate our first responders, veterans, teachers, and those who have chosen to invest in others.
About us
TRANSFORMATIVE KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS experience AND COMMUNITY since 1987
Over the decades, many different faculty and teachers have contributed their unique contribution to grow the KMA family. At this time, three senior leaders have stepped up to together continue to grow the impact of the amazing KMA Taekwondo Hapkido family.
First is GrandMaster Song, also known as Kwanjangnim (KJN). KJN has dedicated over 40 years to teaching Taekwondo, even teaching 3rd generation students. Second is Sabumnim (SBN) or the Head of our Dojang (school), Master David. He oversees the running of the school, sharpens the curriculum, and adds leadership development expertise, in addition to being a Summa Cum Laude graduate with two advanced academic degrees. Third is our lead Kyosonim (KSN), Master Jeffrey. In addition to also being a multi-decade Taekwondo practitioner with multiple advanced academic degrees, KSN is an active, certified Taekwondo referee with multiple US Taekwondo organizations. He is well recognized and appreciated throughout the Houston Taekwondo community.
There are many other leaders (both students and parents) who make the KMA family the amazing community it is. But we will limit our sharing here to our three senior leaders and allow you to visit and meet the rest of the team.
